Northern Neck Foster Parent Program

All Foster Parents are required to complete Pre-Service Training. The Northern Neck Foster Parent Program currently offers PRIDE - Parents Reource for Information, Development, Education. PRIDE is a 27 hour course that will be offered twice a year locally. All Foster Parents who need to complete Pre-Service Training and all prospective Foster Parents will be notified in writing of upcoming PRIDE Trainings. The information will also appear on this page and in the monthly newsletter mailed to all Foster Parents.

In addition to the PRIDE Training, all Foster Parents are required to complete, at a minimum, 10 hours of In-Service per parent per calendar year. In-Service Trainings will be held throughout the year both locally and statewide. Foster Parents will be notified of all upcoming In-Service Trainings. It is very importants that you remember to RSVP for all of your training Sessions.

You may also complete half of your required In-Service Trainings through home training methods. Home Training Methods include On-Line Training DVD/VHS Training.

The Northern Neck Foster Parent Program has approved three sites for on-line training. They are Foster Parent College (www.FosterParentCollege.com), Foster Parent Care and Adoptive Community (www.fosterparent.com) and Pierce College (www.pierce.ctc.edu/distance/ofpe/). All approved Foster Parents may go online and purchase training sessions from these two websites. The program will reimburse you up to $64.00 per year per parent for any online training you successfully complete. In order to receive reimbursement, you must submit a copy of your registration receipt or payment receipt and a copy of your Certificate of Completion to the Foster Parent Coordinator.
